Abstract

Partikel-partikel plastik berukuran <5 mm banyak digunakan sebagai bahan eksfoliator dalam produk perawatan seperti scrub wajah dan kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keberadaan jenis polimer plastik dalam produk scrub wajah dan kulit. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menganalisis 10 produk yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori risiko mikroplastik dari aplikasi Beat The Microbeads (BTMB). Proses analisis meliputi ekstraksi partikel plastik, pengamatan mikroskopis dan identifikasi polimer menggunakan spektrum FTIR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 10 sampel yang dianalisis, P1 memiliki kandungan polimer plastik tertinggi, sedangkan P9 menunjukkan jumlah paling sedikit. Polimer yang paling dominan adalah polyethylene (PE), sementara beberapa produk mengandung polimer alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan seperti Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), Hydroxypropyl Cellulose (HPC), dan Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penggunaan polimer berbahan plastik masih mendominasi formulasi produk scrub wajah dan kulit, sehingga berpotensi mencemari lingkungan perairan.
